This gallery is a selection of (mainly) Railway photographs from the modern era. The majority of pictures are digital images.
If you like the photos, or wish to use them / get a copy, then feel free to get in touch with me as I no longer support the print shop facility on fotopic.
Hello, I am "The Chief" (which is obviously not my real name) and welcome to my website.
I work within the Rail Industry, which I have done now for 19 years and I have held several different positions during that time. I am currently “between jobs” having recently parted company with Alstom. I will of course return to the industry in due course – watch this space.......
A lot of the galleries listed on here are from Wembley Depot * where I worked from 2002 – 2009 (and it's not all Pendolinos as you'll see). My pictures are from either work related events or from my own personal time. I do not claim to be a professional photographer but I have developed a keen interest in photography and I like to think that my photos represent this.
I have uploaded the majority of my digital images now. There are one or two exceptions which I will get round to as soon as I can. My next stage is to start scanning in the non digital pictures, when I get a spare week or (or month)!
I hope you enjoy the site. Please feel free to leave feedback and suggestions (constructive feedback is welcomed as much as general bellowing is).
* (Please note that Wembley Traincare Centre is on private property and unplanned visitors are not allowed on the site, trespassers are liable to be arrested by the feds or eaten by the fleet of depot pigeons)!
I am competent in Personal Track Safety, Rules & Regulations etc and have never compromised my safety, or the safety of others when obtaining any images. Furthermore, I have always sort authorisation before taking photos when on or about Depots or Yards.
NB: Any views or opinions expressed by individuals in the pictures galleries, comments gallery or any other section of this website DO NOT, in any way, represent my employers (previous or current), or their customers, suppliers, contractors and / or employees opinions.
Driving the train from Euston to Birmingham was Euston driver Mick Humphries who, for this occasion, was authorised to wear his full 1982 BR Driver's uniform. Mick is an Instructor Driver at Euston and played a significant part in the (re)training for the Euston drivers on Class 87’s and DVT’s.
The good Lord himself! No, not the man upstairs, but 87028 Lord President. Still going strong at 33 years old, 87028 calls into her home depot (which, just incase you can't make out from all the stickers is Wembley!) for a routine exam and repair.
And the other end of line up. Did you know that, dispite not being able to move under thier own power, these vehicles are set up on TOPS as locos? Now that is dreadful!
